"By Improving The Climate Of Schools, We Can Develop Students' Socio-emotional Skills"

The accomplishments, abilities and academic knowledge of its pupils has been assessed in France for a long time. With a strong domestic structure of statistical analysis, PISA (International Program for Student Performance Monitoring) and Tims (Trends in International Mathematics & Science) and Pirls have been one of the first countries to establish student groups, administer standardised national assessments and take part in an international evaluation of student achievement (International Research Program in School Reading).
These various sources provide a fairly comprehensive overview of France's intellectual capabilities. However, what are we familiar with your social and emotional abilities – curiosity, creativity, persistence, sense of responsibility, emotional control, empathy, sociability, confidence, energy, etc.? And what is the function these abilities play in France for our kids' academic successes, opportunities to find exciting employment, well-being and their (future) active engagement in society? Not much, in fact.
