Online personal trainer certification. What's your opinion?

In the late 90’s I studied and interviewed the people conducting the most popular national personal training certifications for a series of review articles in The Exercise Standard. I was the director of the certification for a national online personal trainer franchise in the early 2000s and have experience with running certification workshops for personal trainers. I have also developed and advised training studio owners on developing in-house training programs for employees. I know a bit about what is required to properly train and assess personal trainer qualifications, and most of what is online are utter crap. I would not hire a trainer with an online certification.
